From Morial to Moreno: The Next Generation of Mayor

Throughout 2026, to commemorate this milestone, TEG will recognize the past, present and future, transformative work, and accomplishments of our clients. We will offer examination, explanation, advancement, and context about projects and initiatives relative to this moment in New Orleans, Louisiana, and the nation's history.
Let us begin with the recent election and inauguration of New Orleans' 63rd Mayor, Helena Moreno. Citizens are feeling renewed energy, seeing public service in action, and witnessing dynamic, seasoned leadership. And Madame Mayor isn't sugarcoating what lies ahead. Her message is clear. Much work is required to move our city forward and everyone must be all in.
Recently, bipartisanship has not been a reliable or civilized part of public discourse. We remember when it was the norm, not the exception, and performed respectfully.

Mayor Marc Morial
Consider the history of New Orleans 59th Mayor Marc H. Morial, well known for his consensus building skills. During two terms, Morial's governance style, arduous work ethic, and the administration's team-building mindset transformed the city.
In collaboration with Republican U.S. Congressman Bob Livingston and Louisiana Governor Mike Foster, Morial led the return of the iconic streetcar to Canal Street; the arrival of a NBA basketball team; a new entertainment and basketball arena; measurable police reform, significant crime reduction, economic development resurgence; and the return of families and professionals to New Orleans.

Mayor Helena Moreno is exhibiting inspiring bipartisanship as evidenced by the support of Louisiana's United States House of Representatives, 1st District and 119th Congress, Majority Leader, Republican Congressman Steve Scalise and 2nd District Congressman, Democrat Troy A. Carter; as well as, Louisiana State Senate President, District 9, Senator, Republican J. Cameron Henry, Jr., and District 4, Democratic Senator James "Jimmy" Harris, III.
It seems that Mayor Moreno's words are being heard loud and clear.
